hi all..
i`m new here and thought i would share this info with u all...
when i went to college consumer legislation was 1 of my units i had to do... this was around 1995 so i dont know if it still applies today.
we got talking about bank charges for some reason and i distinctly remember being told by my teacher that if a bank ever sends u a letter charging u any money for unauthorised borrowing or the like:-
u are entitlied to send them a letter back to say thanks AND to charge them the exact same ammount, never any more than they charged u, thus canceling out any charge applied to ur account!!!
i put this to the test approx 4y ago with my own bank and my bank manager called me in to see her.
she tried to tell me this was not allowed BUT decided not to apply the charge to my account!!! WINNER!!
i would love to know if anybody else has tried this....??
to the mods- if this info is completly wrong please put me right.
hope this helps.
P.S. i recon a new claim under rule 5 is the way to go!!
