Cashback card vs 0% 12 month Purchase Card?

Considering going for one of the latest cashback cards as recommended in Martin's recent article for my wife. She only spends about £300 a month on the card, but it is mainly on petrol. Just wondering if going for, say the GE Money card paying 3% cashback would be better than merely spending on a Sainsburys card 0% for 12 months and putting the spare cash that would have been paying of the balance each month into a savings account. Anyone have any recommendations?
