HELP - DVLA not sent original birth certificate back

They sent the other 2 documents seperate to new driving licence but that was last week. I have tried ringing but its constantly engaged. Have emailed and had automatic response saying my enquiry will be looked into etc. Where do I stand with this. Obviously I need my original birth certificate, its my only one. Thankyou

If the worst comes to the worst, and it is lost, then you will be able to get a replacement copy. (The County Council do them at the cheapest rate, though there are companies online who will do them for around £15).

What number are you ringing? They have over 200 lines open at one time, and it's not a busy period so you should get through quickly to a clerk after the automated system. The official number is 0870 240 0009, or look on saynoto0870 website for local no. They are open 08.00 until 20.30 so you should be able to speak to someone.

If you had a letter sent back with the other 2 documents then there may be a tel no on there for the dept that dealt with your enquiry (will start with 01792). Try this rather than the general no above, however they will only be open 08.00-16.00

Hi yes thats the number I am using the one on the letter flutterbyuk25.Thanks Quentin was hoping to have original back rather than get a copy though. I have had letter from them today stating "all original documents were sent out in same envelope" and to have another check for birth certificate. I am fumming as its the 1st thing I noticed when I opened envelope that birth cert not there. I give up
