Why do I keep seeing wooden floors in pictures of kitchens when I have been told they are unsuitable? I would love to have a wooden floor - what do you think?

Who told you they were unsuitable?0

I have just put one down in my kitchen it looks lovely and warm unlike tiles which are cold unless you have underfloor heating0

I have wooden floors in my kitchen too (with underfloor heating
)! We chose engineered wood as it is less likely to warp if it gets wet!

Two different wooden floor companies said not to put them in kitchen - it isn't in their interest to say this so I had to listen to their advice. I don't know what to do now. Thanks for your comments.0

Wood doesn't need to be wood. We will have Amtico/Karndean in our bathroom- looks like wood, but less worry about it getting wet. (To be clear- water on wood is a "worry", not necessarily a problem).0

We have a wooden floor in the kitchen. It works fine for us. We've had them before too (both old floor boards and the more mordern type thatlaminate tries to look like, which is what we have now.)0

this house has got laminate on the floor in the kitchen diner, it seems fine but i like to mop a lot because of the animals so I dont know how it will last, when it starts to look ropey, I will be replacing it with vinyl that looks like wood, much easier to look after0

its also a lot about whats realistic, these pictures are not realistic. one thing that i would love to have is wood flooring throughout, with no thresholds at doorways. despite asking various fitters over the years and on websites, apparently its not really possible/easy due to possible movement, yet in magazines you see huge open plan properties with lovely wood flooring the whole way through, no unsightly thresholds etc0 -
ive got laminate in my kitchen and diner, i mop a lot due to animals, its been down 8 yrs now and is just starting to look a little tatty on the seams... it has had plent of large spills on it, i once or twice dropped a full washing up bowl of water on it!!! no real problem if you mop it up straight away...

my parents have wood floor in the kitchen (and the bathroom) - solid oak with underfloor heating, and no probs so far. They have it throughout the house with no thresholds.People seem not to see that their opinion of the world is also a confession of character.
