When I try to boot to safe mode then instead of getting the options as usual, I am asked if I want to boot from the hard drive, floppy drive, cd drive or dvd drive - I can't get to the safe mode options at all.

Whats gone wrong and how can I sort it?

Thanks

I used to have an Asus board that would do that, but when I selected HDD it would then go on to give me the regular options (safe mode, last known...etc).

I presume yours just takes you straight to windows if you select hdd, yes??

what kind of mobo is it?

Browntoa, I am trying to access safe mode - its only recently it hasn't worked.

niceguyrichy - don't have time to really look at it just now - will double check the selecting hard drive thing later - and all my system info says about the hard disk is its a generic ide type 47 - wheatever that means...?

Have to go out now, will post back later

    Thanks guys.

    start > run > "msconfig" > boot.ini > "/safeboot" > minimal > OK
    restart... should restart in safemode.
once your in safemode, and you wanna get out,
    start > run > "msconfig" > boot.ini > (untick "/safeboot") > OK

If ure pressing F8, its bring up up your boot options, press esc, and and F8 again and that should do it..
If you think nobody cares about you, try missing a couple of payments.
