Is 6 year credit default from start of default or from date satisfied?

Hi
I defaulted on a CC on 26/02/2004. I then started paying it of in installments and satisfied the whole amount on 12/10/2008.

I know it will be on my credit report for 6 years but is this from the 2004 date? I hope so.

6 years from when the default was first recorded on your credit file.

So, 2010 if the default was registered in 2004.

How long does a default stay on my report?


We keep a record of defaulted accounts for six years from the date the lender decided you had broken the terms of the agreement (the ‘defaulted' date). The lender will have told you that the account was to be classed as being in default. The current balance on a defaulted account should show if payments have been made since the default ,or if the account has now been fully paid.

Yes, accounts are removed from your credit file six years after the original date of defaulting irrespective of when it was settled, or even if it has(n't) been settled.
