Hi, if you are planning to go to that area for 2 days or so then why not visit both? They are fairly close, we were going to stay at the M3 sunbury travelodge (look out for v cheap rooms, we booked two £9 family rooms) at the end of the summer but didn't make it for a variety of reasons. If you can only get to one i'd say Chessington as it has loads to do, a zoo, sealife centre etc rides will be more for their ages, unless they are lego mad
Chessington is also better value imo.

Lego land is aimed at the younger children, while chessington is more for the family whilst thorpe caters for the teenagers and thrill seekers ( i know you din't ask about thorpe) If you can do both, thats prob the best idea.
My advice is go on to each parks website and check the height restrictions.
My everlasting memory of thorpe will be my then 8 yr old throwing himself on the floor ( wet floor too) in a temper tantrum cos he wasn't big enough to ride the rides. I vowed then never to visit a park wher all my childrren could all they wanted. My problem was my 8yr old was a total thrill seeker, so taking him to thorpe was a major mistake. On the other hand I took him and his cousin to legoland back in the summer ( now 11) my son was bored silly with the little rides, while his cousin had to be persuaded to go on rides!!!
You know which rides your children will enjoy, so as long as they meet the restictions you'll be fine0 -
