HSBC "Pending Transactions" Now Online

You've always had to call the automated service to find out what was due to be paid in/out of you account the next day. Now this is available online, under "Pending Transactions" in the menu at the left.
You can see:
- Next working day transactions only
- Standing Orders - in
- Direct Debits - out
- Cheques
- BACS Payments
You can't see:
- Standing orders - out
- Faster payments
- HSBC Cheques - in
Another plus for HSBC's internet banking service

Presumably this is only where the SO is being sent by BACS, and not by faster payments?
Looks a good system though! Would be nice if my bank followed suit0 -
I can't see this until next week but should be good. Happy Lokolo.0

HSBC have provided this service over the phone for as long as I can remember, so I've been surprised that no other banks have followed suit.
I always found it useful when I worked for an agency who always messed up my pay. Payday was Friday but I knew how much I was being paid on Thursday which meant that I could query my pay one day before everyone else (which always meant things were sorted out more quickly!)0 -
This is the full FAQ for the service:What will I be able to see?
You will be able to see transactions due to be paid into or out the next working day.
These will include:-
BACS payments – Most salary, pension and dividend payments
Outward Direct Debits
Incoming Standing Orders
Incoming Bill Payments
Cheques paid out (viewable after 6pm)
Cheques paid in (excluding HSBC cheques).
What won't I be able to see?
Unfortunately, we are not aware of some transactions until these are paid into or out of your account.
These include:-
Outgoing standing orders
Bill Payments outward (including future dated payments)
Salaries, pensions or dividends paid by Faster Payment
Charges and interest
Debit card transactions
Incoming Faster Payments
Future dated transfers
Cash machine withdrawals
Overseas Payments.
Are the transactions I can see guaranteed to be taken from my account?
No these transactions are not guaranteed. Items can still be returned, recalled or reversed on the day that they are due to be taken from the account.
When will I know if a payment is definitely paid or received?
You may not be advised that the item has been returned, reversed or recalled. You may only know if the transaction does not appear on your recent transactions list by the end of the next working day.
The recent transactions list is constantly updated during the day so an item that shows early in the morning may not appear later in the day.
How often is the pending transactions list updated?
The list will be updated to show cheques which will be available to view from 6pm.
How do these transactions affect the balances shown on the 'My accounts' list and my available balance?
These items are only an indication of the transactions due to be paid in or out of your account on the next working day so they will not affect the balance.
Why doesn't my salary show?
Your employer may be using the Faster Payment service to send your salary. This means that it will not appear on your account until your pay day.
Can you show details of transactions that are due further into the future?
Unfortunately we can only show transactions for the next working day. Any other payments you have set up can be viewed within Internet Banking.0 -

I believe Halifax do it over the phone, my need just isn't that great for me to phone up (they don't do this online).
If it was on internet banking though, then it would be much easier.0 -
Most banks can actually tell you what is going in/out over the phone, they just haven't implemented this into a feature that customers can use automatically.0
