Relocation agencies

My wife and I, both pensioners, have recently sold and are looking for an almost 'final resting place'. We know exactly what we're looking for but find that we're getting exhausted all too quickly in the process.
Anyone have thoughts about the value of taking on a home search/relocation agency? Our concern is that, apart from a registration fee, if they don't find what we want in say, six months, we still have to pay costs they may have incurred. Like everyone our finances do have a limit.

You can do everything these agencies do yourself. They will contact Estate Agents & trawl the internet to find you a property. Define an are in which you want to live, then get out there & do some ground work yourself. Make sure you contact all the agents in the chosen area & keep in contact with them.0

If you know "exactly what you're looking for", perhaps that's why you're getting exhausted finding it! Presumably this is a downsize or compromise on your current home, so "exactly" may not exist!
I do hope you're not considering making a rush decision but can't understand why you've sold before properly deciding where to live! What does your wife say about all this?0 -

Those are my principles. If you don't like them, I have others.
I have writer's block - I can't begin to tell you about it.
You told me again you preferred handsome men but for me you would make an exception.
