HP Pavillion Laptop

I bought an HP Pavillion DV9655ae laptop in January last year and the motherboard failed completely in October. From research on the internet it appears this is a common problem effecting pavillion laptops with on board Nvidia Graphics cards that cause it to overheat.

HP (in the USA only?) extended the warrentee to 2 years on some models to resolve the issue.

They (HP) are claiming my model was not covered as the inherent fault had been addressed.

Has anybody else had this problem?

I too have had this problem and it is likley to be due to the GPU being inherently defective.

You have a claim unde the SOGA from the retailer who sold you the laptop. I am currently chasing a large retail group for a refund for my 18 month old laptop.

YOu are likely to be asked for an engineers report as there is a reverve burdon of proof.

If you google nvidia defect you will find a whole site dedicated to this problem.
