CSA Can't Find Ex.

Sorry if similar has been posted before.
It's taken 2 1/2 years for the CSA to track down my ex. he has made 2 arrears payments to the CSA through a deducations of earnings order, I have now been told that he has left his employment and they can't find him, they have asked his employer who have said that they don't know where he has gone, they have checked with the Inland Revenue and his last employers are still listed, they say they have sent letters to the address on their system and all letters have been returned, as they can't confirm his home address they say there is nothing that they can do. I have asked them if they are going to send someone out to confirm that he is not living there, they have said that they wont do this as he may have sold the property, rented it out to someone, maybe living with a girlfriend, he may have left the country, he may be getting paid cash in hand (he was earning 40k a year), and sending someone out without a confirmed address would be wasting time and money, they have procedures to follow and that the case would be closed for a period of 6 months before anyone would look at my case again.
Is there anything else I can do???
Thank you in advance for your help.

There are routes and proceedures to follow, perhaps Kellogs can remind you of the csa proceedures, in the meantime, I wouldn't get over excited about recieving anything too soon, if the ex is going to take such drastic measures to avoid contributing, then the whole saga could last many many years

Thanks DUTR, I Dont mind how long it takes, just sick and tired of feeling like i'm being fobbed off and having to tell them what has happened/happening with my case every time I phone.0

It will just go on and on till they have a proper adress for him, if you could find it out or whether they get it from his NI when he gets another job.
My ex is the same, keeps avoiding csa, been 6 years now. Its finally going to court though as he has been lying to csa and not co-opertaing. You will get there eventually, nobody knows how long it will take though0 -
Thanks Karenx, I haven't seen him in years, I don't have contact with his immediate family, I only found out were he was working through a friend as he had seen him, hence how they caught up with him, but the CSA did say that they had found him through his NI number. I was also wondering is it worth complaining and getting my local M.P. involved?0

Yes go to your MP but tbh if nobody knows where he is and he isnt working then I dont think theres alot that can be done

Once he starts work again it will show up where through his NI, if he just does cash in hand work then you dont have alot of hope in getting money
Thats what my ex is doing but luckily I had his adress so we knew where he stays
Good luck

What I don't understand is if they have an address for him, even though the letters are being sent back, why don't they go to the property and check to see if it is him still who is still living there as we could all send back letters that we don't want to open? or even check with Electrol Roll, Council Tax, DVLA (as if there are cars on the drive they maybe registered in his name?)0

I think visits only happen once you are assigned a case worker, as my case worker visited my ex quite alot at his house and she knows the case inside out. Whereas when you speak to the call centre all they go on is whats on the screen when you call.
Also if theres not an office near they wont want to send someone hundreds of miles to go check, what if he isnt in? Be a wasted journey.
The house might not be in his name and he isnt listed there for council tax, cars might be in a partners name or at a different adress. There could be alot of reasons0 -
I will phone them tonight, I thought I did have someone who was dealing with my case when it was transferred from Cardiff to Falkirk, but everytime I have phoned they have told me she wasnt there as she had left for the day, it's impossible for me to phone in the day as my working hours dont allow me to. I must admit, speaking 2 weeks ago to a women in Falkirk she did say that they would be transferring my case to be investigated as he had sent all letters back and not returned the phone calls. but last week when I phoned a young girl got very stoppy and said that the case was going to be closed and if he didnt want to be found there is nothing they could do to find him..
Will keep at them... Thanks again Karen.0 -
Hmmm thats strange, I would def write a letter to your MP. Put in all the details, dont miss anything out as it all helps! As when you complain it goes to the complaints team! I complained through the CAB and they spoke to CSA then my case got passed onto the criminal compliance team. As its a criminal offence to withhold information etc which is what my ex was doing.
Like I said in my other post, my case is finally going to court and I dont think it would of been if I hadnt complained! Now I have my own case worker with a direct dial number so anytime I need to ask something I just call her! Its sooo much easier! And plus I just need to say my name and she knows who I am and can tell me things! She also came to my house a few times to go over things and she has been to my ex's house too. First time she went to his house she came to mine straight after and she was so sad as she said my boy is idential to his dad and he doesnt understand why he is refusing to have anything to with him or want to contribute.
If you dont think you will be good at writing a letter to your MP go to the CAB and they can help with it or do it for you! The girl there took down lots of notes while I was there and later in the day she typed a letter and sent it to me to ask if that was ok to pass on to CSA and if I wanted to add anything or change it. She was really helpful
