You know I posted a few weeks back where Natwest had offered me ( I say me but it was on hubby's account!) less than 50% of my original claim well.......
They didn't make an offer before I had to return the court allocation form so that was another £100 to spend (when I didn't have the money!). Yesterday, we had a letter from their solicitors sending me a copy of their court allocation form (sent late I might add!) and refusing to go to mediation.
Anyway woke up today to another letter from them complete with a cheque for £2250 - not the full amount being claimed as they seem to have forgotten the interest and the additional £100 I'd had to pay out.
Hubby wants now to drop the case....but me being a dog with a bone wants to write them one last letter asking for the interest & £100 ....would you bother for a price of a stamp???

Did you put on the claim that you wantd interest and fees (these are usually in the claim)?
if Yes, then you are entitled to the court costs and interest if it goes to court
Also they are saving money from not going to court, so it is in their best interests
Give them a phone call and write a letter, see what they offer
Dont take any rubbish either,0 -
Id ask for the extra, "you seem to have forgotten the interest etc" I will not bank the cheque until a further cheque is recieved.
etc. ON that it has to be a few hundred, isnt it?:beer: Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
Its £340 (as at the date of my original claim)
So £440 in total.
I'm not going to for interest to date (as I know I am entitled to and I know that they would if the boot was on the other foot!) I just think that if I let them off on this then it would always bug me.....as I said dog with a bone seems to sum me up perfectly!!!
However, on a lighter note, hubby has opted for ice cream with his (humble) pie this afternoon!2014 Target;

Well done you
I wouldn't leadve it at that though..... what could you buy with that extra money. You could pay the larger amount of debts and have the interest as treat money. Thats what me and Oh are doing if our bank ever settle
:beer:0 -
I would settle but thats me. Do what feels right for you. I have settled with barclays mortgage, hopefully by next friday barclays current account will have paid up, halifax next unfortunatly I thiought it was loads but only £50 as the rest was interest they suddenly started applying. Oh and I am suing Libra but thats another story.Barclaycard 3800

I know exactly hat you mean but I will be happy when I get the extra £440 - well to be honest I'm happy now but you know what I mean.
Just to make success even sweeter I am going to clear off the RBS (which natwest are a part of) cc that hubby has. Then with the money that we pay towards that card each month and the payments I make to the card in my signature, I can clear the card in my signature within the next 3 months so that will be enough for me for now.
My mum (who was gobsmacked that I'd even bothered to do it, though not surprised!) also suggested we spend part of the money on ourselves but I've become so focused on clearing the debt that I want to use it for that and that alone - as you've probably guessed mum doesn't know about the debt situation we're in.
What I would say is for everyone out there still in the process, stick with it....the banks are running scared (even if it didn't seem like it a couple of weeks ago, lol!) - and even if they do try and intimidate you, there will always people on here and other web sites that will support you.2014 Target;

Everyone I've spoken too outside of here can't be bothered to claim their charges back. It's so frustrating.Barclaycard 3800

That is a good idea. I am not suggesting a Bahamas trip or anything, but ME and WE (you and you and hubby of course!!) time is also very important.
You are important too - in the quest to clear off your debts, don't forget that!!!!
Just a night away? Nice evening out? Cinema then portion of chips in the park? (reminiscing here!) It doesn't have to be expensive but you do need a treat too.
And nice one with the bank! Go for the extra - as you said, whats the price of a stamp?????0 -
I took my bank to court... well it actually never got that far, as soon as I receive the court date a letter came from the bank offering the full amount including court fee and interest.Lighbulb moment Mar 06 :think: Total debt £26023.60 Apr 06 :eek: Total Debt Now £22714.87 Total Paid Off £3308.73(12.71%) Debt Free Date 2013_party_0
