Barclays - £22 Personal Reserve

Hello.
I currently work for Barclays Bank PLC, but due to having bank charges incurred by other banks, and family members having Barclays charges incurred i feel it necessary for me to confirm the following for you.
Please remember, this is information which is passed out throughout Barclays staff, but they do NOT want you, the customer, to be aware of this.
If you have incurred £22 Personal Reserve charges for exceeding your overdraft limit by less than £10, you will receive a full refund.
Remember, this is only for people who have incurred the £22 fee, and not the other £8 charges.
All you need to do is contact the bank via the customer relations telephone line, or go to your bank and complain that you feel the £22 Personal Reserve charges incurred are unfair as you only exceeded your overdraft/only went into the Reserve by less than £10. If you have had 1 x £22, or 100 x £22, as long as you went into your Personal Reserve by less than £10 you will receive a FULL refund.
Any questions?:money:

Hi, thanks for participating!!
Here's my issue, let me know if there's anything you think I can do...
I've found myself in debt 2months worth of charges (22 x 8) and intend to fight this. On the letters it says "The personal reserve is intended for short-term use only. If you use it continuously for more than a few weeks, we may contact you or seek to remove Personal Reserve (or both)"...How about neither?! The least they could have done was call me (they have my current mobile number) to let me know what was happening. I use my Barclays account as my secondary account and had no idea i was in the red. All it would have taken was a quick call from Barclays and the issue would have been solved way back in April
Do I have a case?0 -

They are not refunding. I think they must have a new policy as the customer care people told me they are not allowed under any circumstances to refund changes for using the reserve. Their attitute is, we told you about it, you should have had it removed.I want to be credit card and loan free by Christmas 20100

Barclays Whistleblower...It seems that the customer relations department at present do not care for what there customers tell them. I myself have now proceed to go further with my complaint to financial ombudsman service and provide all letters from Barclays including the complaints letter due to the fact that a cashier told me that my current account had a £10.00 overdraft which it did not and i have now incurred charges and Customer relations want me to pay up £120.00 in charges for this.0

Once I get my PPI and overdraft reclaim sorted with them, the next step is to reclaim the reserve charges. I mean I have never signed anything to say I would accept this so why should I pay? Anyone else agree or think that I have a case?0 -
News to me, Telephone Banking haven't been allowed to refund charges at all since the introduction of Personal Reserve in August 08, unless there's been fraud on the account or it was due to bank error.0

Without my knowledge my wife had been charged £22 every week for months due to this reserve fee thing! She had/has around £150/month in DD's going out but £290 in family allowance going in. She'd slowly gone over her £100 official overdraft after I'd lost my job in November 2008. It was slow slide, but she got to the point that she was in the reserve area all the time. Eventually, she realised she was stuck being charged this amount weekly so rang Barclays in December 2009 to ask what she could do to reduce these charges (freeze account? up overdraft limit? ect). The "service" manager she spoke to said there was nothing they could do????
Eventually she told me about it, and I suggest we go into the branch to see. I was ready to blow my lid with them! However, the woman we saw immediately cancelled the reserve to stop the reserve charges, and told us to ring their finance department to set up a plan. This we did two days later once the cancellation had time to show. The plan agreed was simple enough ... O/D raised to the -£450 that her account now stands at, and will be reduced by £80/month until it reaches zero. This allows her DD's to clear, and gives her a small "slush" fund.
What I'd like to know, is why the person she spoke to in December didn't do the same? Could we make a claim for the charges from when she called and was given bad advice, to when the matter was resolved? The only proof would be evidence that she called the bank as shown on the telephone bill. Unfortunately it wasn't by letter or a visit
