To have or have not - Swine-flu jab and fibromyalgia
Comments

I had the swine flu vaccine yesterday and the normal flu one in November.
So far okay, except my arm is very, very painful. I can't lift it, and it feels as if there is a tight band across my arm."There is no medicine like hope, no incentive so great, and no tonic so powerful as expectation of something better tomorrow." - Orison Swett Marden0 -

There were three in our house that got the swine flu injection. Mum, screamed when injection went in, injection area became red, swollen and painfull for a week after. Dad had no reaction at all. I had no problem until the night of my injection when I don't my arm by accident then arm became painfull as muscle was tense all the time gradually went away after 4 days.
To be honest with all our health problems we thought it better to get the injection as we thought the benefit would outweigh the possible side effects.0 -
I have fibromyalgia and every time I have had the normal flu vaccine I have been laid low with flu ... and I mean absolutely bedridden and unable to walk. Partly due to the flu but mostly due to the flare up it caused in my "usual" fibro symptoms.
The last two years I haven't had the vaccine and so far have been totally flu free. My doctor says that as fibro can make your immune system so weak it isn't worth having the vaccine because it won't make any difference plus it can cause a flare up so I've steered clear of the swine flu one as well.0 -
I'm wondering what to do as well. OH has an appt to get it on friday and they asked if I wanted it too. I have ME and I know it will flatten me...but flu might flatten me permanently0

I had my swine flu jab yesterday, and the nurse managed to get me to have my seasonal flu jab as well - I have avoided these for 3 years after being laid low with flu after the flu jab.
I'm not sure what effects I have had as I have ME and am getting over glandular fever at the moment, I have also had swine flu (although not swabbed) which is why they wanted me to have the swine flu jab. I did have the sneezies this afternoon but that could have been anything.
I knocked my arm last night and boy did it hurt, but I have been taking pain killers today for something else so that might have helped the arm anyway.
I did ask whether it was worth me having it but the doctor wanted me to have it as I am so low with my immune system at the moment he didn't want me to get anything else that knocks me out.
Hubby has also had his swine flu jab yesterday and so far he is okay.Mortgage Free as of 20.9.17Declutter challenge 2023, 2024 🏅 🏅⭐️⭐️

But if you have already had the flu, then why give you the vaccine ? You're already immune ... Will you please let me know how you get on ?0

Might have had seasonal flu - can't be sure, so thought probably a good idea to make certain?I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0 -

It was because I hadn't been swabbed and had it officially diagnosed even though Dr said it was 99% swine flu. Oh and apparently you can still get swine flu more than once according to my Dr.
At the moment I am doing okay, still sneezing but feeling like !!!!!..and having a foggy time with my memory. Arm is aching something rotten but painkillers are keeping it at bayMortgage Free as of 20.9.17Declutter challenge 2023, 2024 🏅 🏅⭐️⭐️

I asked my GP this last week and he said that there has been reports of a second lot of swine flu on the horizon which hits harder than the first and you can get swine flu more than once.
I cant have the injection atm as Im on other treatment, but OH & DD have to have it for me IYSWIM.
