Tax Rebate!!

If you have used a tax-rebate company, remember to write to HMRC afterwards to cancel your authority for them to deal with your tax returns and for them to receive your refunds, otherwise there is a risk that HMRC will send tax repayments for later years to them aswell, even if they didn't do anything for you.
ALSO, another point to watch for if you are thinking of using such a company - it is possible that HMRC will make an error and give a repayment which is too much - rebate co take their 40% - then, later HMRC realise their mistake and want their full overpayment from you, the taxpayer, so you would be out of pocket unless you can persuade rebate company to repay you. This has happened quite a lot with people who have signed over their tax rebates to a charity - charity gets the overpayment and has no mechanism to repay, so the taxpayer has to repay personally. I would never recommend anyone to sign over their tax repayments to anyone else for this reason alone - HMRC make mistakes like anyone else (often more frequently!)0 -
I agree 100% with the last post.
The company discussed bizarrely does not seem to have any qualifications to advise on tax - if you need help then HMRC are a good first port of call, followed by a Chartered Tax Adviser.0
