Apparently they are expensive for shares. I have never used them and only buy through the Share Centre who do send regular emails with their recommendations which I don't always follow of course. But, when I have taken their advice the shares have come good. They give general advice too as far as I know, free of charge. I should have asked them before buying Lloyds TSB:rolleyes:

I have been using HL for the last year and half or so and can't fault their platform.

They seem to update the platform regularly. A recent update appears to be a section for managing monthly savings. I find this particularly useful as some months I pay in and others I don't.

I use their portfolio analysis tool regularly in order to balance my portfolio accordingly.

I must say though that this last week I've started using TrustNet to manage my holdings, simply because they seem to update the valuations quicker.

Why Hargreaves Lansdown? what would be the advantage?
I have just looked at TD Waterhouse and they offer between 0% and 2% set up fee on most funds, and no management fee. Are there hidden costs?
Most stockbrokers also usually charge transaction fees for unit trusts, though they may rebate initial charges and even some trail commission from the fund AMC.

H-L offers both rebates and transactions are free. Particularly important for those who want to invest in u/ts on a regular basis.
    Trying to keep it simple...;)
