Last minute.com very poor ! --- avoid!

Options
My wife and I were booked to see Oliver this weekend (28/11) as part of our 25th wedding anniversary celebration. We had booked tickets through Last Minute.Com for the show more than a month ago and had booked flights (we stay in Scotland) and hotel to suit.
10 days ago we received a phone call from Last Minute.Com to say that our tickets had been cancelled by the theatre and the best they could do was offer a refund or try to get tickets to an alternative show.
How can this happen?? ---- Could it be that because I had managed to obtain these tickets, at what was a great price for best seats, and that it was for an 'in demand' show on a Saturday night that we were 'bumped' for someone who was prepared to pay a better price?? ---- I wonder!.
In any case I was totally devastated ---our weekend was now in ruins.
No form of compensation offered by a supposed quality company and the person who I spoke to at Last Minute.Com sounded like they didn't give a hoot.
DO NOT DEAL WITH LAST MINUTE.COM would be my advice
anyone else had a similar experience??.

  • I have but not with Lastminute.com. Mine was with Ticketmaster, they did almost the same to me and my girlfriend although they did not offer us a refund but an exchange to something of equivalent price....terrible. They get away with these things all the time...should be put to shame.
I'm an addict to as many freebies as possible!
  • Oh dear, how very disappointing. I bought from lastminute for Oliver over a month ago, and all was fine. Very good seats ('best available at price'). Perhaps bookings have suddenly picked up over Xmas and lastminute oversold or computer-booking malfunction. I can recommend 'Jersey Boys' if you're old enough (literally) to remember and enjoy The 4 Seasons.
Hope you manage to have a nice w/e anyway - congrats on 25th (I'm at 40th-OMG!)
I once booked through lastminute for a w/e hotel room and later found out that it had been booked 5 times over because of a computer-booking error. But the hotel had sorted it before we arrived (well done them), arranging alternative accommodation for the others affected, and wouldn't have told me what had happened had I not asked an innocent question the following morning. No warning by lastminute though, so we could have arrived late at night and found no room. It does make me nervous about using them.

I'm really sorry about what happened to you but I have only ever had a good experiences with lastminute.com. I have had some really cheap deals for terrific seats.

I do hope they get you another show that you like.
    Thank you all who post.
