A27 FPA NOTICE #UK: eBay Password Reset

"I couldn't log into ebay this morning. When I checked my email I found a message fomr Ebay saying 'It appears that your eBay password has become known to a third party.
It is possible that an unauthorised third party found out your password using a "spoof" email. These are fraudulent emails made to appear as if they were sent by eBay. Spoof emails attempt to collect your password or other personal information, usually by asking you to click on a link in the email and sign into a spoof website." it is signed "Customer Support (Trust and Safety Department)

The email was also in 'My messages' part of ebay. I never reply to spoof emails, so I am very suspicious about this. Does ebay send these emails or has someone hacked into my account ?
Anyone had experience of this ?
