Faulty Car, Brought on Credit Card?

Options
I Brought a new (second hand 03 plate) car from a car dealer last week.
It cost £3000, of which £2000 with a credit card, The Air Bag light is permantaly on, the dealer seems not to want to know about it as the car come with 1 month warranty on engine and gearbox only.
Im told by other sources, that the Air Bag repair is going to be very costly.

Any ideas if I can do anything here?

    Where to, home or work?:p
    Sorry!
However, as you used your credit card for that amount, even though it was a part payment, then if the dealer turns rogue the you should be able to pursue the CC company too.
Write to the dealer now outlining the fault and you request it to be sorted under the warranty, Signed For, just so that there's something in writing.
Read your warranty first very carefully to make sure what is covered. Sale of goods Act overrides the warranty anyway. Remember it's also a six year old car. Airbags should last longer than that though. I think on my car the recommendation is to change them at 10 years.

As its a "new" 6 year old car you case might be a struggle.

Have you taken it to be fault read to see what's wrong?

I'm going to counter that...is it a Punto?
They're renoundedly s***e because the air bag connector is under the drivers seat and (if you break hard and not even crash) can disconnect with the seat moving forward.
  • Its a PEUGEOT 206SW, it come with just a receipt says simply 1 month warranty engine and gear box only.
For the first 3 days, was was not aware of any problem, then the light was on for 3 days, yestoday, I was going to take the car back to phisicly show him the fault (I have only told him about it over the phone) but yestoday, it seemd to of fixed it self. First thing this morning, it was back on, but since then its ok again now..
Hope its not a sign of troble to come..Not sure what to do about it..

You couldnt reject it solely on this. The SOGA might not even apply.

Second hand cars develop faults, it all depends on the age, cost and so on the reasonablness of these faults and any SOGA obligations.

An airbag light being on alone isnt a valid complaint.

You spend £3K and get only 1 month warranty?

You might aswell just have gone private and paid £800 less.

Are you with the AA, or RAC, or similar.
Get some legal advice on what warranty must be given by dealers.

This is exactly what happens to the C3. Took mine back to the dealer and they just reconnected it. OP you could maybe have a look under the seat. You description of intermittant light is exactly what was wrong with mine.
  • Yer, I posted the fault in a Peugeot Forum, and been told to clean the connectors under the front seats..
