Transferring DVDs onto iPod Touch

Hi there,
This has possibly been asked many times before, so I apologise in advance if i am repeating previous requests!
I just need to copy some DVDs onto my Daughter's iPod Touch, via her Laptop (Windows)
Don't mind paying for software, if I know its going to work, but have been told there are some free software out there.
I have tried Handbrake, but it seems a bit hit and miss as to what DVD's it likes, and so far I have been unsuccesful in completing a transfer.
(currently got 1 on the go, and its telling me its going to take 8hrs !!)
Any suggestions would be very much appreciated.
regards

HandBrake works very well in my experience, and it's certainly what I would recommend on either Windows, Mac OS X, or Linux.
It won't decrypt DVDs in Windows though, so you need to use a program such as DVD Decrypter to copy the DVD onto your computer first, then run it through HandBrake to produce a file the iPod can play. Apologies if you already know this, you just don't mention this step in your post.
As for the speed, working with video is very taxing on your computer, which is why people who work with video use machines such as these. If your machine isn't the fastest around, it will take a while to convert a DVD. Also, the settings you use can have an impact on the speed; using two pass encoding for instance will significantly increase the time it takes. If the speed remains a problem, I'd suggest letting it do its thing overnight.
And just in case you weren't aware, a new version of HandBrake - 0.9.4 - was released a few days ago. Upgrading may help speed things up somewhat.0 -

Well I can't get dvd decrypter and handbrake to work right.
They appear to do the job, but when it comes to playing the film in itunes the picture is scrambled and basically won't work.
Can anyone help?0
