I know some lenders (mine included) credit CHECK but not SCORE (this can be a valuable bit of info if you have no existing credit arrangements, as your score would be very low but through no fault or default on your own part!)

it might be worth talking to a financial advisor?

So what are saying? Banks will be checking merely for Defaults, CCJ and missed payments? Regardless of how good or poor the overall score is.

    Hi,

This is true as, talking to financial advisor will worth of everything as, this might will be beneficial before taking any step forward.

    Thanks!
  • Cheers, my friends a financial advisor, i'll have to have a word with him.

Yeah, I appreciate the complications of too many searches, which is why I plan to do only two. I'm going to take a chance with Natwest and my girlfriend's employee rate, and the other with a more probable chance of acceptance with Halifax.

Can anyone clarify that Halifax search soley through Experian.

Again, thanks for the kind opinions.
  • I bank with halifax, have for most of my life but when I was a FTB they wouldn't give me a mortgage as I'd never had any credit agreements in the past and had a very low 'score'!

We were heartbroken and thought it was the end of the road but decided to speak to an FA after being turned down, expecting the worst. They advised us of the lenders who don't score just check - and those who wouldn't take our recent decline into the consideration either!

My point being, I don't know how Halifax produce their score, but an FA probably would, and I think they'd be able to point you in the direction of someone who will look at people on a case by case basis. It's far better (imo) to be treated as an individual in these circumstances.

    hope this helps! x
