They tend to be open office hours so give them a ring first thing, they will either give you a quote while your on the phone or give you a call back a little while later if they have to speak to any of the Insurers.

Some people prefer to deal with a local broker as your not dealing with an offshore call centre, if you have a claim they can handle it all for you and you can always pop in see a person if you have a problem.

If you ask your parents you will probably find they have a broker they deal with and have dealt with for many years as back in the day everyone used a local broker and tended to stay with them so they may be able to recommend a broker and may even have someone at the broker they deal with personally

Quick update as promised. I rang 3 of the brokers on the list this morning. They ALL came back with NIG insurance, though the prices fluctuated by around £50. The two lower prices were similar so I opted for the broker who gave the most helpful answers.

They all had to check with NIG first regarding the flat roof but it was okay with 'a load' added to the policy.

Thanks for all your help dacouch.

No problem, brokers are good for the more unusual properties etc, you can get them to do the running around for you and utilise their knowledge. It's nice to see you rewarded the most helpful broker with the business. This is how I deal with customers and tends to gain customers as they have confidence in you.

If you are unfortunate to have a claim you will find the broker will also help sort the claim out rather than you having to deal with lots of different people in a call centre which is often off shore.

The broker can offer you a good deal / cover on your travel insurance and also on your motor insurance so you could try them for a quote when you need cover. Having a good relationship with your broker can be helpful if you ever need help or a favour.
