Id love to get to the bottom of that file we 'fixed', but if its working fine once AVG is gone for good then id suggest carrying on as normal

No need to post a report if theres nothing to say. Just post back here if anything significant happens

that there file you speak of i've tried to find info on, but the only english pages i can get on it via google is this thread! but there does seem to be many a people across the languages querying its existence.

call me synical but i've had numerous problems missed/caused by norton over the years so i dont trust it one bit, i wonder why all these issues seem to come about after i'd used its removal tool - could it have come from there that trojan and that file - could've caused enough hassle for one to put the factory restore disk in and so restore norton too? hehe, i have a vivid imagination....

anyhow, for now i'll thank you again for your help, you've been a diamond, i will now try and find an sp2 upgrade for this 32 bit vista of mine, shut down and see what happens in the morning

    morning all! :hello:

well after last nights fiasco i decided i would test out my resilience, and start again with a sytem recovery. the laptop just felt corrupted somehow, so this morning i have recovered the laptop, used a dvd disk to uninstall norton - got that black screensaver .exe popping up again after that, so un installed that too. re installed avira, malwarebytes, firefox etc connected to internet and updated all and sundry inc defender and am currently scanning. phew.

i have 95 gb of my c drive free so thats better than last night too. i recovered to how it came with a partitioned hd. didnt see the point in messing with that really!

after all this if i get any more issues i'll be sure to post up logs.
    thanks again!
eta defender is no longer blocking MWB from start up, couldnt get it to allow it at all last night!
