Domestic wind turbines

Has anyone here got any experience to share re domestic wind turbine systems? I'm considering installing one for our small rural holiday cottage in Scotland. According to this wind speed database...
http://www.berr.gov.uk/windspeed-database/page27326.html
...it has an average wind speed of about 5 metres per second at 10 metres above ground level. I understand that these things don't really start to work until the wind speed is at least 8 metres per second.
Any thoughts or words from the wise much appreciated. Cheers.

I think we should accept that Mr Yorkityke is a little eccentric.0

4.5/5m/s is generally the min wind speed you will require
to get any decent output on a turbine
or you could put a couple of pv panels on as well for

Read the above thread (which was started by me). If you still think Cardew owns a solar panel company after reading that, you are insane.
Thank you0 -
As your in a rural area you may be one of the few people who can benefit from a turbine. Not sure who to speak out site surveys and that stuff.0

I note Cardew gives no direct answer to the question. A straight yes or no would suffice, and quicker than expecting others to read previous threads to infer it.0
