Fairview New Homes - Incentive lies!

My girlfriend bought a new flat from Fairview in May 2009. At the time they were running an incentive where if you introduced a friend to the scheme and they completed ona new home through Fairview, she would receive £500.

Her friend completed in July 2009, and after so many emails, broken promises and a complaint letter to a director at Fairview, she is still yet to receive her £500 cheque!

Fairview have confirmed in writing that she is entitled to the incentive, and they claim to have sent a cheque in September, which never arrived...they claimed it was lost in the post, but that would make it the ONLY piece of mail that went missing. Fairview then agreed that the cheque hadn't been cashed and cancelled it...since then they have promised and made up excuse after excuse, and not sent the cheque. The last we heard the chap at Fairview was going to hand deliver it Thursday/Friday last week...nothing, not even an email apologising.

We don't really know where to go from here, looking at their website they don't seem to be associated with any governing bodies or ombudsmen...so we have nowhere else to complain now, and as usual have to listen to the BS Fairview are coming out with.

It's a complete joke, and we're fed up of hearing their pathetic excuses. They confirmed everyone else entitled to the incentive had received their cheques, so I don't know why my girlfriend hasn't had hers...it's been 5 months now!!

I hope someone can help?

You Look like you are doing everything you can from your post!

My only thought would be to speak to your contact at Fairview who said he'd dhand-deliver the cheque, go to their offices and collect the cheque in person.

Oh and then cash it straight away. Just in case.
  • Collect the cheque? They are based miles away :o

Anyway, my girlfriend got an email reply to her 'going to contact Trading Standards with a view to start small claims proceedings' email, stating the cheque will be hand delivered TODAY....so we'll see.

Will his car break down? Get hit by lightening? Implode? Teleport into the future? Who knows...
