I have started (trying) to eat a healthy diet while doing 2x30mins on the Treadmill a day......

Problem is I keep feeling really hungary, today I have eaten

1 Bagel with Low fat cream cheese and banana
    cup ot tea
3 x crisp bread with low fat pate and handful of grapes plus small apple.
Big glass of water, but Now at nearly 4pm I'm starving and I don't know what to have until dinner to curb the hunger!

I don't want to think "Oh stuff it" I will have a bag of crisps!! Help

    Many thanks

OMG, I couldn't live only on that!! Do you think you are eating enough?

I don't do aerobics, but have a very hectic life and do a lot of yoga (sometimes intense and never for less than 1.5-2.00 hours, 2-3 a week and also long workshops)-

I have some fruit and a coffee first things in the morning. A couple of hours later, a muesli with nuts and a banana.
Lunch can be some dahl/pulses/rice with vegetables
Banana and decaff at around 5-6
Glass of milk after practice ( between 8-9) ora chapati or two.

This is a standard day in the week and might change a bit of I go out for dinner,(but not much).
Weekends a re slightly different, but if I go swimming, I need something more substantial- pasta, rice, etc...

Like they said before, up your protein and that will help you to fell fuller for longer. Also, eat less more often. How about a handful of nuts or a yogurt for those pangs of hunger? That helps.
  • ASDA's Mighty Soups (cup-a-soup type things with pasta) are a hidden diet gem - very filling & only about a hundred calories or so. Great for that mid-afternoon slump.

I also make my own (very) hot & sour soup, which has virtually no calories & has the added benefit of speeding up the metabolism a bit.

OOOhhh that sounds lovely Sakura_Yuki you will have to share how you make it.

Been off the Treadmill now for a few weeks and have NO motivation to get back on, feeling really upset and useless as the holiday I was aiming to lose the weight for is 4 months away. Can't believe how quickly it's creeping up on me and I look like a whale and can no way wear a swimsuit arrrrrrrr....

I actually lost a bit of weight due to the family problem but that was purely not eating anything...so very tempting but very wrong and no good! I need to change my life style and eating habbits and just don't know how.
Oh rant over with for now!
  • Ella, don't despair... I feel a it down after the holiday too, but I am on a pulses drive at the moment and I am feeling the cold is making me want to eat more. I got myself a pressure cooker and pulses get done in 20 min! Chickpeas, lentils, beans... sautee some onion and garlic in olive oil for a few minutes, add chopped carrot, leek, peppers, potato, tomato (ie lost of veggies, to your taste), then put the pre-soaked pulses in and cover with water (add stock cube for flavour). Gas on until it starts wistling (5 min) then reduce the heat for about 15-20 in... voila!! Superhealthy, mega-filling pulses.
They really keep you going for a while and if you want you can add a bit of meat to it ( I am vegetarian).
For a dinner you can have vegetable soup, very filling too. Always try and include vegetable n what you are eating, as well as a bito f pretein so that you don;t go hungry- and check portion control, in that way you get used ot eat less and if you get a slump you can always top up with a (healthy) snack.

Go for hearty as unprocessed food as possible and have fruit every day too.

Thank's so much londoner, I will get myself to the shops (when I'm in no danger of slipping) and get myself some pulses! I guess I would have to pre soak the night before as I don't have a pressure cooker only a slow cooker :-)
I love kidney beans so therefore love chilli con carne, but can happily eat them on there own.

Can someone tell me (don't laugh) if SMASH potato is fattening or unhealthy - my husband as taken a liking to the cheese and chive one but I'm not so sure it's a good idea!

yes, you soak overnight...It will take longer on a slow cooker, but still energy saving.
RE- SMASH- whay don't you make the mash at home? many times cheaper and probably helthier. I don't know SMASH but my rule is always to use the nearest possible to the basic ingredient. One of the reasons people put on weight is the amount of additives in some processed foods - Example, moi- can't have sliced bread anymore unless is home made or organic- I get bloated like a balloon!
Chances are that wahtever kind of cheese is involvedin that SMASH is going to be A)fattening 2) synthetic...
Why not make your own ?
  • Another things just occurred to me- don't forget fat- good fat of course. Your body and brain needs it and it is often the reason why we feel hungry. Of course, in moderation and of the good kind, the key is balance.

ELLA, I am feeling the same as you. I am trying to get my portion sizes down and stop snacking as I so need to lose weight (and I go on hols in less than 2 months so am panicking!) and it is very hard. I am hungry all the time, even when my stomach is not empty I feel the urge to eat. It is harder than you think. (((hugs)))

Thanks to all the others for your suggestions, and I too would love to hear the hot and sour soup recipe!!
