quote for damp proofing

Hi,

Just had a quote of £23,000:rotfl: for the damp proofing of a basement lounge wall in a mid-terrace house, which runs from the front to the back of the house. Does anyone know of a realistic price as opposed to one from 'la-la-land' that I can expect for this work? I live in the Southeast but still....

Hi - whoever quotes for you insist they fully comply with BS8102 Protecting of structures from water from the ground and that they are a Certified Surveyor in Structural waterproofing (CSSW) and that they have professional indemnity insurance to write the report / specification and quotation you will be relying upon. Liabilities for getting it wrong can be staggering. Please look on the Property Care Association (PCA) website for what should be a competant contractor in your area.

I have a regular client (landlord) and she had someone in to quote for a little damp

I gave her the number of somoene I know (own company and registered / insured) and the price was 50% of what she was quoted

damp proofing seems to attract similar cowboys & scammers, to the DG and roofing trade.
