Hello, my mum would like to buy my dad bose ear phones (the type that go in your ear) to listen to his ipod. They are £79 on qvc so im trying to see if anyone does them cheeper. There seem to be some on ebay from around £10 but it feels a bit too good to be true. Does anyone know a good/cheep place to get offical bose ones please? Thank you:beer:

Do they have to be Bose?
Shure make some very good earphones for around £50 and up, and unlike Bose, Shure are a pro-audio company who make consistently good quality products.0 -
agree with Marty J here - for in-ear headphones, I wouldn't favour Bose over the likes of Sennheiser, Shure or Ultimate Ears (to name just a few) as I believe the Bose product to be too expensive for what is actually delivered in performance. They're not terrible - just a tad pricey.
Bose protect their margins fairly well and tend to have more selective availability, so I wouldn't expect to see them much cheaper than £79 from anywhere reputable."Who throws a shoe, honestly?"

Your instincts about the Ebay items are correct - if you buy any brand-name headphones (Shure, Bose, etc) cheaply there you are certain to get a poor quality Chinese-made fake, and you will not be able to get your money back.
As the last two posts say, Bose keep a tight grasp on their outlets and you are unlikely to find anyone discounting significantly - especially before Christmas.
I also rate Shure and Sennheiser highly, but don't rule out Sony - they make some very good noise-cancelling in-ear phones such as the MDRNC11, which you can get for less than £50.0 -
The bose on ebay will be fake, there are lots of threads on avforums re fake bose headphones, generally horrible sound quality.
I have some shures and they are brilliant, only bottom of the range but outstanding sound.0 -
The Bose QuiteComfort2 HEADphones are very good, according to my ears and plenty of reviews, but the EARphones apparantly are crap (and not even comfortable), or at least are easily beaten by products of the same value.
If the Bose fascination is your mum thinking your dad will like the Bose brand, I would suggest Sennheiser instead, as a well known and respected company with plenty of kit inside music studios. Same goes for Shure, except that they are less well known, and Ultimate Ears, but it can all get very expensive...0 -

Shure products are probably more widely used in the music industry than Sennheiser's. Their microphones have been used to record just about everybody.0 -
Yes Marty, but the order that I put the products in is the order that the man on the street would recognise. More would recognise Bose than Sennheiser, more would recognise Sennheiser than Shure, more would recognise Shure than Ultimate Ears - I didn't say either was used in the studio more.0

I recommend these... Sennheiser CX500's. http://www.play.com/Electronics/Electronics/4-/3509717/Sennheiser-CX500-Headphones/Product.htmlTry to imagine nothing ever existed...0
