Mobitix - does this work for anyone?!?!

I've tried using Mobitix to buy ticket from London to Manchester, however my phone does not seem to register as it comes back saying 'phone is not supported'.
This seems very suspicous given that I can do everything else from my phone (Samsung Blade) - just Mobitix doesn't work.
My phone network wants to hear nothing of it - and Virgin Trains said 'try speaking to you phone network'....
Why on earth do they advertise fares which few people have been able to get to work?! And isn't it suspicious that they only allow this to work on phone (not print off etc)?
I wonder how many people are actually able to take advantage of these fares....
