Birmingham Midshires Bond

Hi I wonder if anyone can help me please. I am thinking of taking out a Birmingham Midshires Bond in the near future and am wondering if the identification process is easy. Do they use electronic id or do you have to send stuff through the post like bank statements (dont like that idea) etc. Also, does anyone have dealing with them and is the opening and running of the account easy. Many thanks:beer:

My wife opened an internet bond with them last year and the ID was done electronically.

Don't know the procedure on maturity, but opening the account was fairly straightforward.

I had a bond until recently when it matured. Very easy all round - all done via Internet.

Opened ours on-line, easy (apart from needing rather a lot of 'secret' answers). They followed the on-line application up with a letter confirming linked bank details and a request for a CHEQUE for the opening deposit. THAT seems to be the 'ID' and we were not asked for anything in addition to that. Seems that as long as we had a bank account and could prove it with the cheque, they were happy.

No operating to be done, just wait for the bond to mature. However, don't forget the password you choose when you apply for the bond on-line. Ours has just matured and if you don't want to reinvest it with BM as another bond then you need the password to withdraw on-line into your linked bank a/c. Otherwise you'll have to wait up to 5 working days after maturity for a cheque (then have the bother of paying it in somewhere).
Seen it all, done it all, can't remember most of it.
