Which savings accounts are the best at the moment?

I'm just about to come into approx £7,000 I want to use it for a deposit on a house mid to late 2010. Any suggestions which savings accounts are the best out there at the moment?
Thank You.

Liquidity is when you look at your investment portfolio and **** your pants
  • Would you be able to tie it up for 12 months? If so a fixed rate 12 month bond may be the answer, just look for the best one on this site, Mrs B1982

If you are able to move £1000 in and out again each month (can happen in a single day) LLoyds Classic with vantage will give you 4% with instant access
  • And are you fully ISAd up if you know what I mean, although interest rates may be higher on the non ISA accounts, but you have to take into account the saving on tax. Dont give him any more than he should have!!
  • Thanks guy. I will look into some ISA's and also a fixed 12 months bond-thats if I'm able to put it away for 12 months.

I will have a look on this site too for some more ideas and advice.

That sounds brilliant for an amount up to £7000 (but no more). I already have a Classic account that had fallen into disuse. Sounds like I just have to upgrade it to Vantage and then alternate £1000 between that and my new Halifax Reward Current Account which pays £5 per month. :)

"between 5K and 7K" - move out monthly interest that takes you over 7K

You can have 3 of these so if you have at least 15K - you can open 3 with 5K in each and get 4%,
Also 2x Reward accounts (1 solo 1 joint allowed)
    transfer the £1000
    Vatage1 > Vantage >2>Vantage3 > Reward1>Reward2 >Vantage1 - all in the same day for maximum benefit :D
