Brilliant, thank you - I knew they'd be plenty of recipes, it's just an issue of letting my meat-loving mind think thatDespite the name, I'm actually a laydee!0

My favourite meat free meal is egg and chips with crusty bread and butter.Slimming World at target0

I see you don't like beans, but what about lentils? There's several varieties and I use them quite a lot in things like veggie chilli, dahl (lentil curry) and for making veggie sausage rolls.
Roast veg is another favourite of mine for meat-free days - they make a lovely veggie lasagne (you can use only one layer of pasta as you're trying to cut down on carbs), or mix with tomato sauce to serve with pasta or rice, or just on their own (I usually grate some cheese over as I love it, but you don't have to).
If you haven't come across it before, the BBC Good Food website (www.bbcgoodfood.com) is great - they have a whole section of veggie meals which I find very useful when I'm struggling for inspiration. Like you, I'm a devoted carnivore, so I can use all the inspiration I can get when it comes to meat-free meals.Back after a very long break!0 -

you say you like your meat but feel its unhealthy to have a largely meat based diet?
my daughter has been on the the Harcombe diet for just over a year and she looks and says she feels fantastic.
Heres a link to the diet homepage for you

and for those interested in losing weight too then this diet has worked best for my daughter as she does love her meat.0 -
I'm a practicing (and not getting any better at it) Catholic, so refrain from eating meat on Fridays anyway. As a former vegetarian and with a 18yr old daughter who is a vegetarian many of our meals do not contain meat anyway. We still have lots of lovely meals though. We have soups and stews and currys, sweet n sour, nutroasts, vegetable lasagne etc. Some made using non meat replacements like textured vegetable protein/soya etc. We also enjoy simply but tasty meals like baked potatoes with salad, cheese, coleslaw or various other fillings.Grocery Challenge for October: £135/£200

I do a vegetable risotto which my other half who I would say is a serious carnivore eats without fuss.0

Im looking for ways of reducing my familys meat intake, for health and financial reasons...starting today with homemade pizza(cheese and mushroom topping),then i thought of macaroni cheese, cauliflower cheese..more cheese, not exactly a healthy substitute.!!!,The only fish we eat is tinned Tuna,or frozen breaded fish portions...I think fish(altho healthier)is more expensive than meat,so cheap fish recipes welcome too(ive never realy cooked fresh fish before, apart form the very occassional salmon portion)
looking for ideas from carnivores on incorporating meat free days into family meals. Not ready to go veggie yet.!
Not keen on stewed veg type dishes such as Ratatoille etc,We dont like Aubergine/Avocado/Courgette type veggies, but like old fashioned root veg, tatties, cabbage, salad veg etc.
Ive thought about pasta with a basic tomato sauce but my lot would be like "What no meat".?.so simply removing the meat isnt an option..ive thought about Quorn, but i actualy didnt realise just how "man made"this stuff was,i did think it was made from naturaly grown mushroom type things, not from organisms manufactured in a lab.!
All ideas welcome, plus does anyone else want to share their experience of "weaning" their family off meat every day,:rotfl:Slimming World..Wk1,..STS,..Wk2,..-2LB,..Wk3,..-3.5lb,..Wk4,..-2.5,..Wk5,..-1/2lb,Wk6,..STS,..Wk7,..-1lb.
