Talk Talk vs PO

I am with the PO just for phone my internet is with plus net ,my phone bill is creeping up mainly because of daytime calls to 0845 0844 0870 I try to use say no 0870 but it doesnt always work also use 18185. I rang PO to check tariff its 8p connection and 4 1/2p minute I have lots of calls were talktime is only 2-5 seconds but they mount up.
I find having to phone companies the worst for 0845 I am at home retired and cant believe the amount I have to phone 0845 to speak to people,my last bill PO was £82-50 do you think I would be better with Talk Talk. I rarely phone mobiles or abroad.

TT do free evening and weekend calls to 0845 and 0870 numbers.
But why do you have to make so many 2-5 second calls to these numbers?

But 0845 0844 0870 numbers are not residential numbers, so that can't be the reason. PO Home Phone £11.75 package covers evening and weekend calls only, are all your daytime calls billed on top of that? If so you need to switch to an Anytime package which typically adds a fiver a month, but the PO don't seem to do an Anytime package.
So I suggest you migrate your line rental and call package to Plusnet Anytime, this should cost about £16.94 plus your existing broadband cost.

Thanks ,consistantly it seems to be the daytime calling thats pushing it ,I thought to migrate but needed another opinion in case I had got it wrong

You must be making an incredible no of exclusive (daytime) calls to get a monthly bill of £80.50. After deducting the line rental and call package charge of £11.75, and based on 12.5p per call (8p+4.5p), that's about 550 calls a month, or 18 a day!

Or is that £82.50 the OP's quarterly bill, including line rental? Even so, it means just under £50 worth of calls in 3 months.
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

You may well be right Heinz, can't make head or tail of this one. What are all these 2 second calls by D/M 86 to friends on 0845/0844/0870 numbers?
BTW, eve+wknd calls to 0845+0870 are also inclusive on PO Home Phone package.
But clearly the OP needs to be on an Anytime package, which the PO do not appear to offer. Since they already take their broadband with Plusnet. seems logical to look at adding their Anytime service on to that.
