I have applied for a loan and been declined and told there is an outstanding default on my file. There is nonthing on experian and nothing on equifax. There was 2 incorrect defaults on equifax at one point which I had removed and am concerned that these may be on others but am unaware of any other referecne agencies.
Can anyone point me in the right direction so I can correct my file.

There are two ways of constructing a software design: One way is to make it so simple that there are obviously no deficiencies, and the other way is to make it so complicated that there are no obvious deficiencies0 -

thanks, there are no outstanding defaults on that one either. I wonder what they fools are talking about. Oh well leave it 6 month and try again now.
thanks0 -
Make sure that the address info you have given for the past 6 years to the CRAs matches what creditors may have had for you.
Sometimes a default of info can be there, but a small mismatch in the address stops that info being properly linked to your file.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

Chrissy - assuming you need the loan (although if you can wait 6 months I suspect it's not majorly importnant?) then appeal the decision. It's not always possible but I've had one overturned with Egg where they rejected my application. Ask to appeal on the grounds of the incorrect default - explain you have checked your credit files (all 3!) and there are no defaults on there.
Worst case - spend the next 6 months putting the repayment amounts into a savings account and therefor minimising the amount you will need to borrow eventually anyway
