For what reason(s) are you contemplating the Sennheiser RS 140 (for £115) instead of the RS 130 (obtainable from any Richer Sounds shop for £65 by the means I explained earlier in the thread) ?
Particularly since the RS 130 produces marginally better sound?

I had a look at the avreview link that you had on your first message and I got the impression that the RS 140 is probably better suited to TV, plus it is closed back and so less sound leakage (although in reality when people talk about sound leakage is it only really noticeable in an otherwise quiet room with the volume through the headphones turned up quite loud?). Does the "marginally better sound" only relate to music or does it apply to TV as well?
Certain features of the RS 140 I wouldn't need e.g. volume control on each ear but if the sound quality for TV and the sound leakage are noticeably better than the RS 130 then I guess I should be considering this.
I think I see the point in your comments though i.e. whether the better value for money Sony and Philips products are worth it compared to the better value RS 1300 -
Yes, that was indeed the comparison that I was trying to highlight.
Please don't think that I was being challenging in my previous posting: it's just that the current price difference that exists obtainably between the RS 130 and the RS 140 makes the features of the RS 140 quite an expensive (and, for some, unnecessary) luxury when the RS 130 can be acquired for £65 by invoking the Richer Sounds price-beating promise.
The RS 140 is aimed more at those with hearing deficiencies but the lesser sound leakage from its closed cups may also be an important factor for some.
I've not tried the RS 130, personally, but for many it would be the better choice – irrespective of the fact that it is also significantly cheaper.
Reviews I read when I was researching my purchase rated the RS 130 considerably better than the Sony MDR-RF860RK; so if it can now be bought for roughly the same price it's the better buy.
I did, however, want the volume left-right balance control and the closed cups of the RS 140, so I bit the bullet and stumped up the extra money for the RS 140.
The sound leakage from open headphones can be irritating to someone positioned close to you (for example – in a domestic situation – on a sofa or in bed) if they are trying to read or to sleep. I have a set of the wired Sennheiser HD 600, which are open: the sound quality is magnificent for the wearer but the leakage is a nuisance to those nearby, trying to concentrate on something else.
That said, even the closed cups of the RS 140 are not absolutely silent externally: but you would be hard pushed to find them annoying.
The "marginally better sound quality" of the RS 130 would only be apparent with music: it would, however, perhaps be detectable to those with acute hearing if they were watching a concert on television. :undecided
The bottom line is that if I only had some £70 to spend on wireless headphones, I would definitely buy the Sennheiser RS 130 in preference to any others at that price point. The RS 140 takes you higher up the scale, financially, and introduces other factors.

Hi Leopard, hope you're still about here
So glad I found a thread about the Sennheiser RS130/140, thanks for all the info. I personally still not too sure which to opt for, maybe the RS140 - to cut out all the annoying noise from the flat above me, although not bothered at all about leakage as I live alone. I did consider two other makes (Sony MDR860 & Panasonic WF960) but there was little in the way of reviews, unlike these ones by Sennheiser. RS130=£65+p&p from Amazon...very tempting!
PS Already have a pair of Sennheiser HD350 for PC gaming at my Mums place, They're pretty good, although make my ears sweat with prolonged use.Sealed Pot Challenge 15 #78
