Toucan at £8.99 per month, I think is about the cheapest. See here:

On their line rental page, though (http://www.toucantele.co.uk/talk/rental.aspx) it says the following:

"Note: ToucanTalk line rental £9.99 a month when taken with any ToucanTalk call plan. Not available to cable customers." - what's going on there?

And I'm sure I heard a cheeky rumour that there was a 12 month to get line rental at that price - or did I imagine that?

Better not to take one of their call plans then, and get line rental for £8.99 per month!

    NO!!! they are not.
  • Is it possible to use a carrier pre-selection with Toucan? That way you could take advantage of the lower line rental and combine it with the Primus Saver for free evening and weekend calls and 18185 for cheaper mobile calls.

    Any thoughts?

No its not possible. The only supplier of line rental that allows you to CPS your calls to another supplier is BT.
    PF.

i actually save money using toucan, there is the cheaper line rental, and most calls made from my line are usually only about a minute a call, and using the 0844 numbers it only costs a penny, and if they are longer calls you can use 1899 3p a call, whereas i think bt charge 4 or 5p minimum call charge so i'd pay 4 or 5 times more for most of my calls.

you also get free weekend calls, there are no free evening calls, but with all the other benefits i think toucan is the cheapest for me, and maybe for other low users.
