lmao!
All i know is that the property doesn't have an phone sockets in it at all. I've assumed that means it isn't connected to anything?....0 -
Would that info necessarily be in the HIP? I'm not familiar with the format. No free lunch, and no free laptop

I've checked with the agents and there are no phone sockets in the house. The HIP has a sale statement which confirms what services the property is connected to - it confirms gas and electric but says "no" to phone...0

Personally I'd want to verify that 'on site' before ordering a new line-or a quick call to the owners?
Oh sorry, that might be problematic if they don't have a landline...No free lunch, and no free laptop

Thanks macman, i see your point about calling them, luckily they are developers so don't live there. I won't be ordering a new line until we're in anyway (and had our offer accepted this morning) so i guess we'll just find out then!0

I think BT charge £90 for the first extension (with a 1 year warranty) and extra extensions are £45 each, if fitted at the same time, but those may be old figures, anyway a DIY extension kit is anywhere between £5 and £15 and are not difficult to fit.0

Hi iniltous, the charge for an extension is £70 per extension Inc vat (extra extension £70). You would also bee charged a call out fee of £125 Inc vat. Extension sockets and wiring are sold by BT as apparatus. They have a 12 month guarantee.

Even with a 12 month guarantee, at £195 I think the OP will save a few bob by getting the extensions fitted independently...No free lunch, and no free laptop

Can i ask then, if i was connecting with the free connection offer which BT have at the moment which would include the master socket and i then had one additional socket fitted at the same time, the overall charge would be £70?? I assume that there would be no call out charge as the engineer would already be there fitting the line and master socket??
Thanks.0 -
I wouldn't count on it...
You're still paying £70 for a job that an independent would charge £25-30 for.No free lunch, and no free laptop
