Guaranteed Saver Halifax - how long to transfer your funds

My guaranteed saver matured yesterday and I tried to transfer the funds to my Halifax current account but I am getting a message saying it takes 48 hours. That money is now earning next to nothing as I had planned to move it elsewhere on maturity day - normally you can make an immediate transfer to the Halifax current account. Anyone know why I can't do this now or has anyone else had the same problem? Is it just Halifax keeping hold of our money?

I made my request in the morning and it was completed the same day.

It's really odd that the online support for this appears to involve a manual process.

I'd suggest ringing them on 08456 26 36 46 or popping in the branch. Phone call usually takes 2 hours to move money, branch about 2 minutes.

No. It's an account that is marketed as a branch account and as such, while it is supported online, they don't appear to have invested as much in the infrastucture for online banking on this product.

Likewise, mine was done the same day.

Mine matured last week and because I had read on another thread here about it taking 48 hours to move it online I phoned them on the day it matured. They did make me go through to a savings advisor to see if they could keep my money, but I said I wanted to move it away as I had already set up other accounts in readiness. She first said to close the account I needed to go into a branch, but when I said I wanted it transferred into my variable web saver she did it straight away and closed the guaranteed reward account. The transfer took 2 hours and then I was able to set up 2 BACS transfers directly from the web-saver to my external accounts.
