Beware of eurolens.co.uk

EUROLENS This company is based in Nevada, USA and items from them are subject to customs charges. They have worked hard to give the impression they are European, with a UK contact address and a European sounding name. I ended up with a £20 customs bill to get my lenses. Steer well clear of them.

Just took a look at their website and agree that it is very misleading. It does state in the FAQs that they are not responsible for any customs and duty charges for deliveries to Europe. However, why would you check it if it says free carriage in UK? Shouldn't it read TO UK and not IN.
  • Agree with both of the above. BEWARE of this company. It is significantly cheaper to buy lenses directly from your optician than have to foot a £27 customs bill and wait several weeks for this terrible company to deliver. Their site is very misleading and only when you check the smallprint do you realise that they are USA Based.

Also, they quote a price in £GBP, and take from your card in USD, so you're liable for a bank charge too!!
  • Hi - wish I had read your posts before I bought from dodgy EUROLENS last year. Cost me extra in customs charges and an extra tenner when the currencies were converted. Name, website and delivery info still give the impression they are based in the UK (they quote a few days for delivery when in fact it takes 2 weeks plus. You only realise when you check the telephone number which is clearly as US 1-800 number.

I wrote to complain about how misleading their website is and was told " It is listed on the website under the legal disclaimer that we are located in the US. " In other words - we cheat you and we don't care because we have a legal disclaimer. Abject behaviour - DONT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY.

How can we get this information to come up in google ahead of their website in case anyone is searching and ends up with them???

Oh no too late I just saw this post now.. I unwittingly ordered from them, it wasn't until I had already paid, that I noticed they're US based.. :(.. Don't think I can cancel either as I've already paid by credit card..

Is there any way I could get my money back and cancel the order? I paid for it by credit card.. Just looked on the web, and its clear they're a scam, their result comes up as No1 on google for UK based sites.. Clearly misrepresented as they are called "Euro lens" - UK, and are based in the US on some PO Box.. Any help would be mucgh appreciated.

Hmm, was thinking of buying lenses online as a cheaper alternative. Perhaps not!
Not sure this classes as a scam if they're actually sending the goods.
I'm not sure what Trading Standards could do as they're an American company, although they list a UK address on their website. The comment about being operated from Nevada is buried in the middle of the Legal Disclaimer. Perhaps contact TS and see what they say? Alas Nevada law may not give a monkeys about what happens outside their boundaries.
They seem to be just inside the law by mentioning duties and taxes on the shipping page. The prices for other locations are in dollars which might ring alarm bells that the product isn't coming from within the UK.

This page is appearing on G**gle searches for Eurolens but a bit further down. Hopefully it'll be spotted by others and at least make people aware of the risks.

Interestingly the postal address is for a company called Integer Ltd which is a order picking and dispatch company (they'll receive the orders in bulk from the U.S and break them down into the individual orders.

I suppose the old adage rings true, if it sounds too good to be true it usually is.
Looks like you can cancel Giodoc - providing they've not dispatched yet or they're not custom made. Send an email quick!

Unfortunately as you've found, anybody can set up a .co.uk address, so it's best never to rely upon the suffix as a guarantee of anything. Some internet browsers provide extensions that make it easy to find out where a site is based.

Are they even that cheap? I found them more expensive than Asda for my brand/prescription of lenses. And I'd feel safer with Asda.

They say they've already dispatched it.. This was on the 30 Jun.. I still haven't received anything. Emailed them yesterday, and they told me I'd have to wait 6weeks..!!.. First it was 7-15 working days, now its 6 weeks..
I paid using credit card.. Is there any way I can get my money back?.. This is just ridiculous.. I mean, the site is called eurolens.co.uk, it says carriage free in the UK, has a Kent address somewhere in there.. Its only after looking here that I got suspicious.. Is there any way we can report this to google.. They may be within google's rules.. But they are essentially a scam, as they are us based.. Pretending to be European/UK..
  • wish i'd noticed these post before i ordered lol
just called my bank to check if i could stop the payment going through but they have told me its to late and the only way to stop it is if i close down my account!!! I will just wait and see what happens, i actually thought they were a UK company and only noticed they were in the US after i had paid.

Hi that did eventually arrive 1 month after ordering.. They really shouldn't call themselves Eurolens and make it explicit that they are based in the US..
