Cottage rental, Peak District?

Does anyone have any advice/experience of cottage rental in the Peak Disctrict?
The plan is to rent some where to stay for 2 adults and 3 children (must have 3, pref 4 bedrooms) in July for 1 week, with the intention of spending 2 or 3 days visiting Alton Towers and the remaining time exploring the surounding area. Anyone know of any good rental companies or specific properties to rent?
Also if anyone has any advice of things we could do on the non theme park days that would be helpful. We have 12 year old twin boys with ridiculous amounts of energy and a 4 year old boy who can keep up!!
Thanks

We have booked cottages on https://www.ukand irelanddirectory.co.uk before, and been pleased each time. although never booked one in the Peak distirict.
Why don't you do a search on Google, and try and come up with some private cottages to rent, they are usually cheaper than going through an agent.
If you have enough Tesco vouchers by June, you could book your Alton Towers tickets with Deal Tokens.:j0 -
Cottages4u have a huge selection.
You should be able to find something to do Here (covers all of the East Midlands) or Here (search facility is a bit naf) or try:
Wear them out with exercise (or try ;D ) all free (unless you hire a bike):
Walk or hire a bike (click on cycle hire near the bottom) and cycle along the Tissington or the High Peak trail (both off road well maintained cycle tracks on old railway tracks (so not many big hills!) or walk or hire a bike and cycle around Carssington or Lady Bower reservoir.
Walk through Maccelsfield forest and up Shuttlingsloe (great views from the top and not as big a hike as Kinder) always full of kids who love to race up and down the hill while the parents eat their picnics.
Walk over the stepping stones at Dovedale 6 miles there and back to Milldale but the stepping stones are only about 1/2 mile from the car park so you can just go that far and have a picnic if you're not into walking.
Museums / more theme parks:
Take a cable car ride up to the Heights of Abraham and combine that with a day at:
Gullivers kingdom (might be a bit young for the older one)
An educational visit to Eyam (the plague village)
An underground boat trip atSpeedwell Cavern
Most towns (and cafes) have a tourist information and they will sell you a little guide to recommended walks of various areas for under £1.

I was brought up there, so am happy to tell you lots about it, depending on your interests, I'm from Monyash, which is about 40mins from ALton Towers, but has great people living there, is between Bakewell and Buxton has a lovely pub with fantastic food and is a good base. Let me know if you want specific stuff though0
