Watching TV on Laptop on the move

Hi,

Let me throw out a hypothetical scenario here.

Let's just imagine that one's family were planning on a fairly long car journey over this weekend. And let's just say that one member of the family is not too happy about this, especially if there is any suggestion it might coincide with a certain football match.

If one were to acquire one of those TV card thingummybobs for one's laptop, would it pick up signal on the move, along, let's say, the North Wales coast to Anglesey?

Thanks, in advance

S13

Sorry, I would say that it's most unlikely that it would work! TV cards/adaptors do work well IF they are provided with a good signal and that is not likely in a car. I have a TV card in my PC but it's fed from the main house aerial.

One might dispense with this idea based on the safety of other road users being of paramount importance, and in view of this one might just make do with the radio ! :D

BTW, if spotted by the local constabulary, I believe it's an offence to watch tv\video\dvd in the car whilst it's moving.

It could have been worse. At least source code's not combustible, or you can bet somebody at McAfee would have lit it.

That's how I read it as well. He may be an unhappy passenger now!

But it wont let you watch it in the car.... so no use in this thread.

Theoretically it would be possible to watch games but as some say it would depend on signal strength. I tried this with my laptop and my Freecom DVB-T usb.. It would pick up and you could watch TV but because of the small ariel and buildings and signal strength changes I could not get it to work for more than 10Mins without it breaking up for about 5mins before it would settle down. However it was good for watching in services when we stopped.
