Carpet colours

Options
I went into a local carpet shop today and they only had one carpet that was not a version of beige. When I commented on this the owner said that, at the moment, they cannot sell any carpet that is not beige. The only carpet that was not beige was light green. He said that it had been in stock for ages and they could not shift it. He also said that a couple of years ago, the only carpets they could sell were pink.
I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.

sounds like a lazy seller, go elsewhere!....unless you like beige and then you are sorted!

LOL. I blame the TV Makeover peeps with their 'neutral' colour schemes.

Try and get to like light green carpet. Use the fact that he can't shift it to negotiate yourself a major discount..! ;)

Go to a small independant carpet shop, not one with rolls on display, but one with samples on display. They take up far less room, so the vendor can have more available.

We have just ordered a grey-green carpet. The shop had every colour on the market (I think) and they let us take some samples home to see how it goes with our decoration in the actual room. The delivery time is about 8 working days, but we can't get a fitter for a couple of weeks so it works out perfectly.

The small independants may cost more, but if you can get what you want, sometimes it is better to a pay a little more rather than save money and get something you don't want to live with.

This was a small independent shop, which seemed to specialise in off cuts and remnants. I was not looking to buy a carpet, I was getting some remnants hemmed for my sister. It just seemed strange to see so much beige/ neutral in one place. I suppose that they know their own business best.
