Please can anyone help - i am tearing my hair out
i need to think of something for my grandad for xmas - he is the hardest person to buy for in the world - he would be happy with anything - but i want to buy him something he will actually use/need
he is diabetic so no sweets/chocs
he has about twenty packs of unopened socks, about 40 shirts even more ties, and vests, pjs, slippers the works (my gran must have some sort of ocd - she buys stuff constantly)
he's got enough aftershave to sink the titanic same with toiletries - ive spotted stuff in the cupboard i bought years ago - again my grandmas manic shopping means he never gets through stuff
he likes cowboy films but over the years we have bought him ever film u can imagine and he STILL watches the drivel on channel 5
he doesnt really read - just the local rag
he drinks 2 pints of bitter each week - only in the pub - never in the house
hes the worlds best grandad and i really want something special - for his birthday i got him a figurine of a miner made from coal (he was a miner) but dont want to do the same for xmas.
he always appreciates what ever we get but i dont want to get him the same old rubbish...big ask but any ideas?? (you guys are normally so helpful) :A

Does he like gardening? Or cars? Any other hobbies?
What kind of music does he like?
Which area of the country did he grow up in?"One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."
Because by then you've blown your chances. That's it."0 -

How about a hamper of his favourite foods/drink? You can get diabetic chocolates (have got them from Thorntons before).Slightly worn out mum to 3 (DS1 May 03, DS2 Feb 05, DD1 Feb 08). When i grow up i think i'll become a UN Peace keeper....0

How about making him a cake or other little treats using sweetners not sugar i'm a diabetic and my doc and dietician recommend making your own cake and possibly sweets .
Thorntons do sell diabetic sweets and chocs but most docs tell you not to have them as they give you the runs because of something in them in fact most of them tell you not to bother with diabetic products just low fat and / or low sugar.Cross Stitch Challenge Member Number 20

You could get him a book of his local area, you know the one with pictures from years ago? He may enjoy reminiscing and enjoy telling you stories of when he was younger?0

My granny is equaly hard to by for - no sense of taste or smell, blind, has hankies/scarves/tights/brooches/ornaments etc stashed in most cupboards she's got that many. So last year I bought her a Carbon Monoxide detector and a one-touch can opener
