Can anyone recommend a builder in Birmingham?

Our house has tested positive for sulphate attack to the concrete slab floors. They need excavated and replaced, with either more concrete or with floorboards, depending on cost. Therefore, we need a builder to quote for the work.
We're first time buyers and have never had a need to employ a builder and nor has any immediate family in recent history. I was hoping someone from the area could offer a recommendation, please? Of course, if anyone has any specific experience of a similar type of work, that would be ideal.
Thanks muchly.

a council-not a million miles from yours!- runs a scheme on their internet whereby various builders/plumbers etc have been vetted by trading standards. since its only a few miles from birmingham am sure a builder on there will give you some advice. look at solihull mbc website. its calle shipshape0

We had the same problem with our house many years ago. It came to light when we had the survey done when purchasing the house, there was apperently a problem with the houses in our area. Ours was fixed before we moved in, but it was apparently covered by the buildings insurance so it may be worth checking that out. the insurance company had dealt with so many of them they found the builder to do the work. One of our neighbours had to have theirs done about 2 years ago and it was paid for by the insurance company.0
