need electrics checked

hiya

not long bought a nissan micra private sale (£400) for peace of mind i need the wiring checking on the car does anyone know if there is a national company that can come out to chek the car (reversing light don't work, radio crackles, and noise when side lights switched on, none of these were present when I viewed the car, i just wanna get the car sorted rather than taking it back and having any agro)

i've tried a couple of local garages but they don't do electrics only places like nationwide do wiring i've read enough on here to know not to take it to them

ta if anyone can help

    You're probably wasting your time.

I doubt you could name any national company in any field that hasn't been bad mouthed at least once.

Harvey's right, expect a few "niggles" with a £400 £ car. Fix what goes wrong, not what niggles:money:;)
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

the aerial extends, but could still be duff inside or the areial is coming away from the back of the radio...

no it only does it when the side - main lights are switched on

i suffer with ocd i'm worried the car might catch fire if the wiring is faulty
  • Yes it will. You can also only start the car when the clock is on an even number.

Guess he got to the end of his knowledge.

Where is the noise coming from.
Usually it's a poor connection, or a relay, so if you can find the source of the noise, post back. If you know a local garage, ask them who a good auto electrician is that they use, otherwise it's yellow pages, but get a price before they start.

If you have fears like that a diesel would be a better bet, although there would still be wiring fire issues.

Incidentally OP, I had a car destroyed to a wiring issue way back in 1987. Petrol car, dash caught fire. Oudles of time to get out of the car, no exposion, due as the Firebrig told me to the fuel tank being largely full.

Car gutted, interior gone, engine gearbox melted to road, all tyres and alloys gone, no glass but fuel tank intact.

I had time to walk 1/4mile up the motorway and the same back from the phone, plus a 20 min wait for the FB, no problem, chill;):T
