Scrappage Deals on Small Cars! Help please

I have tried searching but couldn't find anything relevent so sorry! I realise there are probably hundreds and hundreds of topics on the same subject. I'll continue looking but thought I'd try posting myself too.

Yesterday we spent the afternoon going round all the car dealers trying to find out the best price we could get on a small car and to be honest I am totally baffled.

I think, if I remember correctly the best deal we came across was the Citroen c2 which was somewhere around £6100 but we only had 14 minutes to buy it at that price... as soon as he said that we walked out.

At the minute I have got a R reg Corsa. It's done about 30,000 miles and to be honest it's great. It's just got through it's MOT costing me only £17.50. However, I know there is no way I will ever, ever get £2000 for the car so am trying to weigh up my options right now. I had a bit of a bump (not at fault) and ever since I have hated driving it. There's also been a couple of minor problems such as the handbreak not releasing which have really put me off driving it.

I've a bit of money put away for my first house deposit as I currently live with parents. However, they're looking to move (just) out of the city I live in, so my thoughts are if I can't afford a house straight away, I need to have a reliable car.

So after all that waffle, what are the current best scrappage deals on small cars? I aren't too fussy to be honest. Yesterday we looked at the Ford KA (LOVED!) Citereon C1 & C2, Nissan Pixo. I don't like the Kia Picanto, other than that I am pretty open to ideas.

Thanks

I think the problem with the scrappage is most, if not all of the dealers are refusing to do any discounts so £2000 seems to be all you can get off the list price whereas before scrappage you could probably negotiate a discount and negotiate p/x deal and a lot of the manufacturers seem to have increased their prices 2 or 3 times since scrappage was introduced (how many other's have increased prices in a recession).
The Ford Ka is a pretty car but quite expensive, you need to shop around try the internet, use the phone and be prepared to travel a bit further to get a good deal but don't accept the first deal and don't forget to test drive all the cars on your short list.

Keep the Corsa, buy a house or keep your money, any new car will lose a lot of money once you actually own it.

Ford are putting their prices up again soon, so if you like the Ka be quick.
