Bathroom humidity sensor problem

We have a buy to let student house. This house has 4 students in it, we recently fitted a humidity extraction unit in the bathroom because it was getting very damp with mould growing ! as yet it seems the thing has only turned on twice  so the problem still exists which makes me mad as it was an expensive unit.
There is a dial underneath with a + one side and a - on the other, both with a selection of numbers on. My husband set the arrow to what looked to me just the + sign with no number. Today I swithched it totally the oposite way to - 80 goodness knows what this is as there were no instructions. Does anyone have any idea of what to set this thing to please ?? I really would have expected it to just work without setting anything.
Thanks for any advice.

Do you know what make it is as that might help track down a manual etc.Adventure before Dementia!0

Make/model would be helpful? Yes, you do have to set it to a humidity level! Normally that would be the level of RH that it triggers at.No free lunch, and no free laptop0

Our unit came with an instruction manual :-) However, they're actually very simple to operate.
Anyway, the simple answer is that if you turn it all the way in one direction, it will turn on. Then, turn it back until it just turns off. You'll probably need to adjust it a few times. Once you're happy, mark it with a pen and leave it.
It's not complicated, but there are no hard & fast rules. Put it at whatever makes it turn on lots. And watch out for annoyed students working it out pretty fast and turning it to effectively off.0 -
Lizzy,
It sounds like it MIGHT be a kair eco 150 room ventilator, based on the dial at the bottom and it sounding like it's more expensive than a normal extractor fan
you can get more info on it here
If it's not let me know the make and model and I'll see what I can do
DDThe advice I give on here is based on my many years in the preservation industry. I choose to remain anonymous, I have no desire to get work from anyone. No one can give 100% accurate advice on a forum if I get it wrong you'll get a sincere apology and that's all:D
Don't like what I have to say? Call me on 0800 KMA;)0 -

Full instructions here http://www.screwfix.com/sfd/i/cat/pdfs/66/p3133466.pdf
By the looks of it you need it set somewhere between 70 and 80, however it would appear from the wording that if you do that it won't come on until over 70% relative humidity which is quite high (although not impossible for a humid day in summer) I might be tempted therefore to start with it at about 70 and adjust from up towards 80 if its on for too long.
NB Manrose and Primeline appear to be the same if you google for them!Adventure before Dementia!0 -
Thanks so much for that I will have a look.0
