This site has some interesting ideas.... I have a meat-loving DH who has a packed lunch every day, so I'm desperate for new ideas, too!

I have made a corned beef type one by mashing up corned beef with skinned tomato and chopped onion.
Thinking of tomato reminds me of my fave sarnies as a child, my mum would mash up some nearly hard boiled eggs with skinned tomatoes and it was absolutely fab, better than slices of egg and tomatoes as this made a sort of spread and the tomatoes didn't make the bread soggy.0 -
I am looking for recipes for chicken tikka sandwich spread - OH loves the tubs but they are so expensive and trying to make it an economical option for work lunches.
At the moment he takes 2 or 3 rounds of ham pickle sandwiches which must get a bit boring for him.0 -

That's exactly what I was going to say. My Mum used to make that when we were kids, going to Groomsport . I think she used to call it ? Maybe thats a Norhtern Irish name, i dunno :rotfl:
I think it was corned beef, boiled tomatoes mashed up, onions and i think maybe salad cream, but I have just text her to ask her. She will love thatBlack pepper too, not had it for years.
Edit - no , no salad cream. The tomatoes bind it.A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men

Boiled tomatoes? My mother used to make corned beef and tomato sandwiches whenever we left the house for a day-trip or a long journey but she blanched the tomatoes so they could be peeled easily, then mashed up the toms into the corned beef. I haven't eaten one of those sandwiches in decades but I can still remember how good they tasted.0

Yip boiled! I checked with her. I can still remember too. I might have to buy some corned beef for nostalgia sake and make it! I wonder if it is still as nice.
My mum replied, and then insisted on telling me how fattening corned beef is. I said I dont care!:rotfl:A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men
