Re grouting / Re sealing

Options
Hi, Just wanted to now how much it would cost if I got someone to re-grout my tiling in my shower unit only, the whole of the bathroom is fine, so no need for that??

Also how much does professional sealing around shower tray and door would cost?? ( as i had it done twice and still getting leaks onto my floorboards )
So i know how much it would be and if someone was trying to rip me off.

Many thanks

My son is a tiler and for a small jobs like these he would apply his hourly rate (£18-£20) which would vary depending on where in the country you are, plus cost of materials.

When you get to the point of choosing your tradesman, ask them whether they want to supply the materials or if you are to supply ask what makes he prefers to work with. Most tradesmen have their own preferred brands they are happy with.

A mastic applicator should only charge you about £30 - £40 to redo your shower. Getting the old stuff out is the hard bit! Are you sure its leaking from the mastic? Are you sure it isn't cracked around the waste or the waste itself is leaking? In terms of your tiles, it depends how big they are. If they are mosaic or small tiles, getting the old grout out is the time consuming bit. They use a 'grout saw' to cut out part of the old grout before applying new. I guess it shouldn't cost more than £140 or so including materials.

  • Im with British Gas/dyno_rod plumbing and drains, so I got a guy in, who took away the skirting and checked the waste pipe, that was all fine. Then he sprayed the corner of the shower and within 30 secs, you could see that water was accumulating and leaking onto the floor boards. The floor board arounbd that area has also gone slightly mouldy and Ive had to put up with drain flies in the bathroom for a couple of months.
The tiles are pretty large and not many off them too, then the people who lived here before did a cheap job, as the existing grout isnt even smooth, very bumpy and discoloured..
    Thanks for the replies.
