PPI Help

I have been on the phone to banks all morning trying to get on top of my monthly payments and I don't feel like I have gained anything but a headache. About two weeks ago I sent the first letter to MBNA requesting a list of all insurance charges on this account, I recieved a letter saying that they would respond within the 40 days. I have been paying PPI since 2001 when I got the card, I have always been self employed and have no memory of the initial discussion, I cancelled the PPI payments this morning. I then approached the co-op to cancel the PPI on a loan, I was told that my monthly payments would increase as the insurance was taken at the front end of the loan and it was not worth cancelling it at this stage. Do I have a case for mis-selling, I am not a homeowner and have always been self employed but over the past year my income has reduced drastically but not enough to stop being self employed, I have a small second paye income. I just need some help to get on top of all my debts.

Hi and welcome.;)
Check for more info on mis selling on the link below, which includes the guidelines of reclaiming and template letters, some do actually cover for being self employed by not all, so if you can try to get hold of a copy of your policy as well.
